What is St Mary's here for?
Much of the way people talk about St Mary’s is in terms of the sense of community: the welcome and embrace of new people, the kindness, and genuine openness, and the acceptance of anybody that might walk through the door. That is to be celebrated!
But what about the amazing church building? We find ourselves in a sad situation where the building is - to use a technical term - at ‘risk of loss’ from a heritage point of view. So at the Annual Meeting in 2025, the congregation agreed to work towards a new vision for St Mary’s so that both the community and the building can develop in wasy that blesses the whole community. To help us achieve our vision, we're starting a programme of repairs and refurbishments to the building, which we know will need a lot of grants and other fundraising. We hope to put the 'fun' into fundraising by encouraging as many people to organise creative ways to raise money or to donate. More info will be added to this page as these ideas develop.
