The Julian Meetings
These are inter-denominational groups to foster contemplative or silent prayer in the Christian tradition. Contemplative prayer has been part of the Christian tradition over many centuries. It is a way of being open to God and letting God be in control. Stillness and silence help us to be fully in the present moment, entirely aware of now.
We have two small groups in Henbury & Brentry which meet monthly – usually on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1.30pm and on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. Each group lasts about an hour. There are no meetings in August.
Prayers for the Community of Henbury and Brentry
This takes place on the 1st Saturday of the month from 10-11am (with no meeting in August). It takes the form of a Prayer Walk in the February, June and October meetings. The prayer group / prayer walks last about an hour and are followed by refreshments.
Advent and Lent Groups
There are weekly groups for study and reflection during these seasons. They begin with the sharing of simple food and end with prayer.
Other opportunities during the year
There are occasional Days of Reflection, Quiet Days plus a short Pilgrimage or retreat during the year.
The Julian Meetings, Community Prayers, Advent and Lent Groups and Days of Reflection usually take place at The Dower House, Station Road, Henbury (opposite Henbury School).
